According to a US study published in the journal Scientific Reports. The researchers at the University of Pennsylvania said parents should think carefully about changing their child's diet instead of getting them to go to bed.

Previous studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acids found in fish can improve intelligence and sleep, and that good sleep improves IQ, but this is the first time these three things have been linked to each other.

Scientists believe that improved sleep caused by omega-3 is what enhances IQ, not the fatty acids themselves.
The researchers asked 541 school children between the ages of 9 and 11 to fill out surveys on the amount of fish they ate and then measure IQ accordingly.Parents were then asked about the quality of sleep.

"The researchers recommend that children be introduced to eating fish at least two years of age and then increase their ration over time"

They found that children who said they ate fish weekly had 4.8 points higher on IQ tests than those who said they rarely or never ate fish; those whose diets included fish sometimes had 3.3 points higher.

In addition, increased fish intake was associated with lower sleep disorders, which researchers say are an indicator of improved overall sleep quality.

The researchers recommend that children be introduced to eating fish at the age of at least two years, and then increase the ration in meals over time.

And stressed the importance of concerted community efforts in this matter, especially in cultures where fish are not commonly eaten or smelled, because of the sensitivity of children to smell and do not return to them, and then they appeal.
